Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair Review

The Bournemouth Pavilion played host to Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair this weekend. As a lover of all things vintage, I couldn't wait to get through the doors.

The event was extremely popular, and we queued outside for about 20 minutes. Despite the wait, everyone was excited to be there and I heard numerous conversations about the fair and how ‘great it was last time.’ As I stood in line I realised that the Pavilion made the perfect venue for the event with its high ceilings, art deco interior and theatrical vibe.

At long last, I paid my £2 and we were in...

There were hundreds of items displayed on rails, hat stands, tables and even in baskets. The stalls glistened with trinkets, clothes, brooches, necklaces, sunglasses, teacups, vases, kitchenware, purses, handbags, shoes…you name it, it was there.

As I searched through the stalls, rummaged through the clothes rails and sorted through the boxes of scarves, I was amazed to see such an eclectic range of items. The clothes ranged from 1940’s floral dresses to 1990’s denim shorts. All of the clothes were in great condition, and there were some stunning pieces amongst all of the fabric.

Countless girls strutted their stuff in front of the large golden-framed mirrors, trying on fur hats, beaded cardigans, coats and lace gloves. Some searched frantically through the purses and bags, loading their arms up with their vintage treasures. The whole event was a fantastic novelty, and I really felt like a 1940’s girl, as I browsed the stands wearing my new bowler-styled hat.

The visitors really enjoyed the live music and the tea that was being served in ornate teacups. There was also the unique chance for girls to get their hair and make-up done in traditional 1940’s and 1950’s styles. Complete with a statement ‘red lip,’ they looked amazing!

In short, if you love vintage fashion and a great day out then Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair is the place for you.
