Regent Centre General Manager: Felicity Porter

Information Centre Manager: Sara Stewart-Haddow

Regent Chairman of the Board: Chris Root

At a time when Tourist Information Centres have joined bank branches and post offices as endangered species on our high streets, it is really good news to report that one seaside town on the South Coast is bucking the trend. The Christchurch Information Centre has just undergone a total refurbishment and was relaunched to the public on Wednesday 18 January 11am at a special opening ceremony.

The town’s theatre and cinema, the Regent, took over the running of the Christchurch Information Centre, which is right next door, from Christchurch Borough Council in December 2013 and incorporated its Box Office with the visitor and tourist services provided by the Information Centre. In 2016 the combined Christchurch Information Centre an Regent Box Office welcomed over 100,000 people through its doors.

This mutually beneficial relationship has proved such a resounding success that the Regent Management decided to provide a complete facelift for the Information Centre, including a totally new frontage on the High Street, new flooring, new shelving and display cases, a new wall mounted montage of large photographs of attractions in the Borough of Christchurch and a brand new range of merchandise which will make ideal gifts and souvenirs.

The Christchurch Information Centre will also continue to provide local services including:

bookings for National Express, coach and day trips; ticketing sales for local events and attractions; providing waste recycling containers and bags; providing local bus, train and ferry timetables and information on local heritage sites, attractions and restaurants.

Regent Centre General Manager, Felicity Porter said: “The merging of the Regent Box Office with the Christchurch Information Centre three years ago has been so successful that the Board of Directors, the Information Manager, Sara Stewart-Haddow and I all agreed that now was the perfect opportunity to give it a fresh new look. Tourism provides a vital part of the town’s and the Regent Centre’s business throughout the year and we know that visitors
expect to have an Information Centre available when they are on holiday. It makes absolute sense for the Regent to make this investment in the future of Tourism in Christchurch and to help support those in the local community who work in the industry providing hotels, guest houses, restaurants and attractions. Their customers are our customers and we look forward to welcoming them to the Regent to see the latest films and shows during they stay in Christchurch.”
