business networking in Christchurch

WIBN Dorset Regional – Indoor garden party!

Tuesday 12th August, Christchurch

The weather might have kept the meeting inside, but there was plenty of sunshine in the room! The atmosphere during the informal networking was buzzing, with more than 60 members and visitors catching up over a refreshing glass of Pimms.

Jacqui Frampton somehow got us all seated on time, and kept the packed agenda running to schedule ably assisted by the hosts on each table. After our one minute introductions around the table – a great mix of talents and expertise – we heard from the first speaker:

Stewart Homer of Homer & Pardy Developments spoke about investing in property, and building an impressive portfolio (his own worth a cool £4 million). Stewart firmly believe Property remains an excellent investment for the long term and provides an option for an alternative income stream, pension support and inheritance opportunity for the next generation.

A break for a buffet barbecue lunch was enjoyed by all, with the usual excellent service from the staff at Captain’s Club.

We had very high expectations for the second speaker, Andy Edwards, a professional speaker, presenter and trainer. No pressure, Andy! He taught us to identify what might be blocking us – a NOB or a WIMP. That is, Nature Of the Beast or Within My Power. His message was that in order to be successful, we need to DO things rather than just THINK about doing them. It was a most powerful, informative presentation condensed into a high octane 15 minute performance.

Which could only be followed by our own Joannah Bishop of Rocket Digital Media. Jo has been a WIBN member for six years, and currently Chairs WIBN Bournemouth & WIBN Southampton City. Jo delivered a visually impressive presentation of the power of networking, building relationships and making connections by using ribbons to demonstrate the links and exchanges already being achieved within the room and asked us to consider the numerous opportunities available outside of the room via those connections.

As coffee was served it only remained for Jacqui to celebrate the appointment of Joannah as the new WIBN Ambassador.

Jacqui and Joannah have recently been working together to develop a new Toolbox and Training Kit. They both felt this was a more “targeted” package and offered more added value to the membership. The Toolbox training will be delivered within the standard meeting format thereby negating avoid the need to arrange another event / commitment for the members and time out from their businesses. An expert marketer, Joannah was the perfect and obvious choice for this new role. Jacqui said we are really looking forward to working with Joannah as our WIBN Ambassador and piloting the new WIBN Toolbox scheme. Watch this space, as they say, while this new programme is rolled out across the WIBN SSW Region.

The regionals are a great chance to mingle in a less structured environment, and also to meet members from other groups across the region. You never know what the person sitting next to you or across the table can do for your business – or indeed, what you might be able to offer them.

It’s about making connections, feeling energised, and meeting like-minded people you want to do business with.
