WIBN Christchurch - "Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Remembered"

It was the first meeting with Jo Bishop of Rocket Digital Media as Chair, and she brought bundles of energy with her. She reminded us that we should be working as hard in the room as outside. We welcomed five visitors, three of whom had been to the Dorset regional last month.

During the one minute pitches, Alison Shelton of Safewise told us about a firewalk she’s doing in November. She’s looking for daredevils to abseil down the Spinaka Tower or do a tandem skydive to raise funds for the charity. Alexa Noble, visiting from the Poole group, mentioned she might be interested in doing the abseil, and that was it – she was signed up!

Shelley Davies of Davies Chiropractic had us up and out of our seats to impart some wisdom in the battle against aches and pains. She taught us the ‘brace’ technique to replace pulling in our stomachs, which does our body no good.

The weather foiled Sue Leach from Boldre Homeopathic Practice; her minute pitch was all about it getting colder, but it was actually an unseasonably warm and humid day. Still, we can benefit from her remedies that are six times more effective than vitamin C at any time of the year!

Rebecca Perl of Messagelab Communications delivered a five-minute spotlight presentation about her latest project. She has started working with an illustrator to create whiteboard animations. Consumers, more than ever, want to hear a story and get a sense of the personality behind the brand. Whiteboard animations enable companies to explain their product or service clearly, succinctly, and in a visually appealing way. And if uploaded to YouTube, they can have a really positive effect on web rankings. Here’s the video that Rebecca showed the group.

Jo Bishop has been on a one-woman WIBN Dorset roadshow in recent weeks, presenting on the WIBN Tool Box. She shared some really useful, practical tips about how members can get the most from their investment. These range from preparing and practising one-minute pitches (“be bold, be brave, be remembered”) to having a positive mental attitude. The smile you give out is the smile you receive. She encouraged us to contribute ideas, suggestions and feedback, and to make sure we bring visitors to the meetings.

In the Let’s Talk Business section, it was agreed that it was an incredibly inspiring and energising meeting. Testimonials and referrals were shared, and appointments for 1-2-1’s were made. As Jo pointed out, if being a member of WIBN is not enhancing your business, you are doing something wrong.
