Eddie Howe believes the referee made the ‘right call’ by deciding to postpone this afternoon’s FA Cup tie against Burton Albion.

The pitch at the Goldsands Stadium was deemed to be unplayable following heavy rain over the last 24 hours, meaning the two clubs will have to wait to play for a place in the next round.

Howe keen to give youngsters a chance

Eddie Howe is hopeful the Cherries can maintain their tradition of developing homegrown players.

Howe played an instrumental role in the careers of Brett Pitman, Josh McQuoid and Danny Ings, as well as promoting Sam Matthews to the first team squad in the summer.

“In an ideal world, the youth team would be your first port of call if you had an injury or a suspension,” he told afcb.co.uk.

“I would love to see us produce players like we did in days gone by. Back when we were in League Two and League One, people like Brett Pitman and Danny Ings were the lifeblood of the team.

AFC Bournemouth has joined forces with leading data centre and connectivity solution provider C4L to provide Connect With Care, a community project based upon internet safety for children.

The scheme, which will last for 40 weeks, will run throughout the entire academic year and look to educate both children and parents about potential dangers when using the internet and to increase awareness around
online safety.

The key facts and points surrounding children and internet dangers will be delivered through football drills and activities, while parents will be taught about the restrictions and parental control measures available when dealing with the children’s mobile phones and iPads.
