Cherries’ disappointment at only taking a point from Bolton

Eunan O’Kane says the Cherries’ disappointment at only taking a point from Bolton shows how much they have progressed recently.

The Cherries came back from two goals down at the Reebok Stadium to take a point back to Dorset, but ended the game in the ascendency and left disappointed not take home all three.

Replay would be perfect for Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp believes it would be the ‘perfect scenario’ if the Cherries could force a replay when two of his former clubs meet this weekend.

Liverpool visit the south coast on Saturday for a FA Cup fourth round tie and Redknapp hopes the club who gave him his professional debut can earn the chance to play the Reds on Merseyside.

“I would like it to be a draw and then for Bournemouth to go and play at Anfield,” he told Matchday, which goes on sale this Saturday and is available to pre-order.

Howe: "Ref made the right call"

Eddie Howe believes the referee made the ‘right call’ by deciding to postpone this afternoon’s FA Cup tie against Burton Albion.

The pitch at the Goldsands Stadium was deemed to be unplayable following heavy rain over the last 24 hours, meaning the two clubs will have to wait to play for a place in the next round.

Howe keen to give youngsters a chance

Eddie Howe is hopeful the Cherries can maintain their tradition of developing homegrown players.

Howe played an instrumental role in the careers of Brett Pitman, Josh McQuoid and Danny Ings, as well as promoting Sam Matthews to the first team squad in the summer.

“In an ideal world, the youth team would be your first port of call if you had an injury or a suspension,” he told afcb.co.uk.

“I would love to see us produce players like we did in days gone by. Back when we were in League Two and League One, people like Brett Pitman and Danny Ings were the lifeblood of the team.

Howe: McQuoid has a part to play

Eddie Howe believes Josh McQuoid is capable of playing an important role for the Cherries in the second half of the season.

McQuoid was included in Howe’s squad on two occasions at the beginning of September, but is yet to make a competitive appearance.
