Councils: A Changing Future

How does the ever evolving landscape of the local sector affect you?

On Tuesday 18th March, at the Grasmere House Hotel in Salisbury, Town and Parish Clerks, Councillors and Officers from Hampshire and the four neighbouring counties gathered together for a unique insight into the future of local councils, sector developments and what this means to those working in the public sector.

After the success of last year’s event, which provided attendees with a series of informative seminars, Tim Light and Paul Reynolds decided to host the event once again, calling upon the event organisational services of Tasty Marketing.

Paul Reynolds of Fair Accounts and Light-A-Touch Financial Accountancy said: “This was the 4th time we ran a collaborative event with AAT and SLCC. Tim and I are thrilled with the calibre of hosts and exhibitors we had in attendance”.

Hosts who took part in this year’s event included sector specialists Ed Huston (Aon Insurance), Roger Taylor (Hedleys Solicitors), Marco Boi (Play Innovation) and Peter Falkner (HAGS SMP), who blended information, and at times humour, into their discussions about their work and what it means for local councils.

The event also boasted talks from Special Guest Speakers; Chris Elliott (New Forest Council), Henry Cooper (AAT), and a collaborative presentation from Bridget Bowen (Grant Thornton) and Emma Prince (BDO); with additional exhibition stalls from Mark Davis (CCLA), Neil Newman (AAT), Gordon Fong (e-mango), Andrew Neale (RBS Software Solutions), Nick Hobbis (Vaughtons) and David Ogilvie (David Ogilvie Engineering).

When asked about the event, one guest commented:

“As with last year, this has been an excellently executed event. Very informative”.

Tim Light and Paul Reynolds are already in discussions with Tasty Marketing about the likelihood of a repeat event next year, due to the positive response received once again from attendees.
