Steele Raymond hails newly qualified commercial solicitor

A newly qualified solicitor at Steele Raymond has been hailed as a prime example of the legal talent coming out of Bournemouth University.

Shaun Guppy qualified as a solicitor and joins the corporate and commercial team of the Bournemouth law firm.

Having read law at Bournemouth University, Shaun completed his placement year at Steele Raymond before going on to complete his Legal Practice Course at the university.

Provide the Perfect Study Break at Lighthouse

Conceived as a welcome distraction from exam revision blues, The Study Break at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, Friday 20th May was produced and managed entirely by young people.

The successful event more than delivered on its early promise and gave some 200 young live music fans plenty to cheer about.

The Bournemouth Youth Theatre

Students at BYT Perform for Timmy Matley

On Saturday 7th May students from The Bournemouth Youth Theatre performed a showcase at St Michael’s Primary School in Bournemouth for the new school patron, Timmy Matley (The Overtones).

The Bournemouth Youth Theatre has been running since 1966, working with young people between the ages of 2-18. Students train at St Michael’s Primary School every Saturday between 2-5pm.


Lighthouse Young Programmers Announce Live Show

The first event to be produced and managed by participants in the groundbreaking Young Programmers scheme at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, has gone on sale at the Dorset venue.

The Study Break, a multi-media live music show, has been programmed, promoted, equipped, staged and managed by young people aged 14-30 as the culmination of a series of four-month courses that make up Young Programmers, a key element of Lighthouse’s learning and participation programme.

Aimed at schools, young people, artists and all others interested in gaining creative industry experience, Young Programmers offers the opportunity for training and learning in areas such as music programming, technical work, writing and reviewing.


Double Distinction for Stagewise Students

Two groups of talented young performers from Stagewise School for the Performing Arts have passed their Trinity Guildhall Musical Theatre exams with distinction. The students, aged between 7 and 18 years, performed extracts from two popular musicals, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Parade in front of an audience including their examiners at Bournemouth’s Shelley Theatre. Trinity Guildhall, London is the international examination board for the performing arts, and Stagewise is currently the only theatre school in the area to enter students for the exam.
