Students from the Business Enterprise Academy turned up the heat in the search for a work placement last week by visiting Hot Radio to promote themselves on air. Students were invited to visit the station by Joannah Bishop the dynamic Captain of Rocket Digital Media Ltd and Hot Radio.

Ballard School Wins National Award

New Milton based independent school, Ballard, have won the Independent School Association Award for healthy eating.

Out of hundreds of independent schools across the country, Ballard School has been awarded the best in the Healthy Eating category at the Independent Schools Association’s National Conference. The Healthy Eating Award recognises the school’s provision for healthy foods and the encouragement they have given to their students to eat healthily.

Earth Detectives

Calling all budding archaeologists. The Priest’s House Museum & Garden in Wimborne Minster is the place to be for some archaeological family fun, on Saturday 25 July from 10am to 4.30pm, as we celebrate the Festival of British Archaeology.

Have a go at making a coil pot or handle some real archaeological finds. You will also be able to put on a hard hat and try your hand at our mini archaeological excavation. There will be something for everyone, with quizzes, trails and hands-on art and craft activities. Our garden tearoom will be open to serve delicious cakes, cream teas and drinks.

Admission is £2 (FREE if you have a valid Young Archaeologists’ Club membership card).

The Festival of British Archaeology is co-ordinated by the Council for British Archaeology.

The special dogs helping kids in the UK

A charity in Dorset has been training a group of special dogs to help kids who have physical and mental difficulties.

The dogs can help to open doors, collect post and use a pedestrian crossing where their owners might have problems.

They also provide emotional support and friendship for owners like eight-year-old Phoebe.

Phoebe has autism, a condition that affects the way you communicate and make sense of the world around you.

Buckholme Towers School’s Sports Day 2014

Shorts, Sports and the Final Report: Buckholme Towers School’s Sports Day 2014.

Buckholme Towers School and Nursery in Lower Parkstone, Poole hosted its annual Sports Day at the East Dorset Tennis Club on Monday July 7.

Crowds of parents formed to support the pupils aged two to 11 years old. Team Studland House won by two points narrowly beating Team Alum and were awarded the John Wright Sports Cup for 2014.

Competitions included relay, sprints and obstacle courses, as well as the traditional egg and spoon and sack races. Parents had an opportunity to get involved with the ‘mums and dads’ races which proved entertaining for the pupils.
